Route: Sighişoara – Saschiz –Viscri – Criţ – Sighişoara

Târnava Mare region in South Eastern Transylvania is one of Europe’s last medieval landscapes, with probably the most extensive flower-rich grasslands remaining in lowland Europe essentially unchanged for hundreds of years.

Itinerary:
We leave the town of Sighişoara and our tour starts with one of the seven fortified church villages listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999, the village of Saschiz is also in the heart of the Sighişoara-Târnava Mare Habitat Site, identified by the Natura 2000. We continue with a drive to Viscri, the best preserved village included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, where over 50 houses and facades have now been restored, including the priest’s house. Our tour continues to Criţ, where the medieval church was destroyed in the early 19th century, it was replaced by one in a more classical style. We take our lunch brake in Criţ, tasting Rozi’s home specialities (optional). We will end up our tour turning back to Sighişoara.

Multicultural Heritage of Transylvania tour

Route: Sighişoara – Richiş – Biertan –Mălâncrav – Sighişoara

Itinerary:

We leave the town of Sighişoara. First we visit Richiş, where you can see Cistercian traces or even Celtic cultural influences. Next we drive to Biertan, the former Lutheran bishop seat, included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. We continue our route to Mălâncrav, in the program is included the visit of the church with 15th century frescoes and the oldest complete altarpiece still in its original location in Transylvania. Our tour ends turning back to Sighişoara.

The Saxon Fortified Churches Heritage tour

Route:  Sighişoara – Valchid – Copşa Mare – Biertan – Sighişoara

Itinerary:

On this tour we invite you to explore the different architecture in three distinct fortified churches of the Târnava Mare valley. Our first visit is the recently restored fortified church in Valchid. The little settlement was first mentioned in 1345. We continue our route to Copşa Mare. The basilica there underwent several additions and alterations throughout the years, mainly generated by the economic and political changes in Transylvania. Our last stop is in Biertan. We visit the fortified church in Transylvania, being the former bishop’s seat for more than 300 years. The tour ends turning back to Sighisoara.

The Renaissance Castle and Fortified Churches tour

Route: Sighişoara – Seleuş – Prod – Criş – Sighişoara

Itinerary:

We leave Sighişoara and drive to Seleuş, taking a visit of its fortified church. This Gothic construction partly stone and partly of brick, was completed in the year of 1476. We continue our route to Prod, with a visit to the fortified church. Its Baroque altar dates from 1780, whose side panels are built in the Rococo style, the top painting dates back only to the year 1906.  We continue our tour to Criş  to admire the most beautiful piece of  Transylvanian renaissance dwelling and defence castle, the Bethlen Castle.We will end up our tour turning back to Sighişoara.

The Hârtibaciu Valley tour

Route: Sighişoara – Apold – Stejărişu –Alţâna – Sighişoara

Itinerary:

Following a trail that heads south-west, on the old route of the steam train, our first stop is in Apold, one of a few still standing peasant fortresses in Transylvania. Our tour leads to Stejărişu, where we visit the little church, built in the 14th century. The recently restored Bacon’s Tower today is still used by Saxons over the year as a store room for their bacon. We continue our route to an important historic village in the region of Sibiu, Alţâna,  home to a fortified church which is from the 13th century. We will end our tour turning back to Sighişoara.

The Land of Făgăraș tour

Route: Sighişoara- Agnita – Dealu Frumos –Voila –Făgăraş – Mănăstirea Sâmbăta –Herghelia  Sâmbăta de Jos  – Sighişoara                       

Itinerary:

From Sighişoara our route turns to South, our first stop will be in Dealu Frumos at one of the finest fortfied churches in Transylvania. We will drive further to Făgăraş citadel. The citadel had in different periods different utilizations, from strategic military importance, to princely residence, garrison or prison. We continue our route to the stud farm in Sâmbăta de Jos, admiring the Lipizzan breed, a powerful but agile horse employed for military uses and for use in the riding schools for the nobility of central Europe.  Our route continues to Mănăstirea Sâmbăta, known as one of the edifices built in Brâncovenesc Style. Afterwards we drive back to Sighişoara.

The Land of Bârsa tour

Route: Sighişoara – Prejmer – Hărman – Braşov – Sighişoara

Itinerary:

After 2 hours travelling from Sighişoara, we stop in Prejmer for a visit in one of the largest fortified churches in Transylvania. After 1990 it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The 15 minutes travel by car, is followed  by a walk in the fortified church of Hărman. This is surrounded by a 12 metres high defending wall and is reinforced by seven forerunning towers.  Our route in The Land of Bârsa is continuing to Braşov, where we will take a walking tour, which includes the Sforii Street, the Black Church, the Main Square. We will end our tour turning back to Sighişoara.
